Jan 1987 - Jan 1989 Research Associate (Part-time), New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
Designed and developed a mail gateway between a computerized conferencing system called Electronic Information Exchange System 2 (EIES2) and Sendmail. Acquired proficiency in Sendmail, RFC 822, X.400 series of CCITT Standards, X.409 Abstract Syntax Notation, X.410 for remote operations, and Unix Interprocess Communication. Development environment included AT&T; 3B15 (System V.3), HP 9000/840 (HP-UX), C, Distributed Smalltalk, Shell, Make, SCCS, and xdb.
Designed and developed several subsystems of the User Interface for the above conferencing system using Distributed Smalltalk and C. Involved in designing an intuitive user interface, conducting verbal protocol analyses (human-factors experiments), carrying out controlled experiments and interviews, planning acceptance tests and preparing demonstrations. Also responsible for the Quality Assurance and Evaluation of the system.
